Owners & Trainers

At Barbury, we know just what an achievement it is to get a horse to the racecourse, never mind winning a race. This is a location where the Thoroughbred comes first.

We are very pleased to welcome Owners, Riders and Keepers to Barbury Races. We’ll make every effort to ensure that your day meets your expectations, whatever the outcome of your race.

Owners will be provided 4 individual tickets per horse, mailed to you electronically before the event.

We work with sponsors to deliver the best prize money we can. Whilst there are limits laid down by the rules of the sport, you won't find us wanting on trophies and awards. Dubarry sponsor the leading Trainer award, and the Moloh Leading Lady Owner award offers £1,000 to spend at their prestigious shops in Tetbury, Pimlico and at Cheltenham racecourse.

At the International fixture, refreshments are provided free of charge to owners in the Members Bar.

Please use the Contact Us details to call us with any special requirements and we’ll do our utmost to assist.

Equine Flu regulations

BHA Regulations since the outbreak in the Spring have been relaxed. The Declarations Teams will check a random number of passports to check that the horses’ vaccination dates are correct, and comply with latest BHA update. In that respect Regulation 36 in general remains extant except that the Vaccination date must be within NINE calendar months (e.g. 1 January – 1 October) (eight months plus a one-month grace period) of the day of the race rather than the year listed in Regulation 36. NB The month’s grace has now been extended in 2020, whilst BHA works with other countries to agree a new harmonised vaccination requirement for racehorses in Europe.

  • Compliant EI vaccination within twelve calendar months will continue to be acceptable for horses NOT on racecourse property (e.g.) injured horses which are not currently racing
  • There is NO requirement to submit information in advance – where necessary, passports will be checked by BHA staff upon entry to the Racecourse
  • There is NO requirement to submit a Health Declaration Form or for a nasopharyngeal swab (PCR) to be completed

By his own admission, the days of Grade I winners and high days at Cheltenham for Barbury trainer Alan King, are now few and far between, given the concentration of spending power harnessed by the big guns of the Jumps game. The seemingly never-ending phalanx of owners with six figure budgets scoop up all the best stock at public auction, and Closutton in particular has a network of scouts scourin...

Enthusiastic owners Clive and Joan Hitchings are based only a few miles from Chaddesley Corbett racecourse and have long wanted a horse good enough to land the prestigious Lady Dudley Cup which takes centre stage on the seven race-card at the Worcestershire venue on Saturday. And their wish may have been granted in the shape of Grace A Vous Enki, who bids to extend his unbeaten sequence to six vi...

"Quality will out" is a watchword for racing at Aintree nowadays, where the era of long-priced unfancied horses has largely been put to bed by changes to race conditions and the shape of the fences. And perhaps the racing over the National fences is better for that.  That quality was proven yesterday when 3/1 favourite It's On The Line, trained by Emmet Mullins, and ridden by Derek O'Connor,...
