Point-to-Point racing returns to Barbury this month as the new Point-to-Point season gets underway, and once again, Barbury will dominate the early months with top flight racing on offer. The calendar remains unchanged with four fixtures from November - April, starting with the Point-to-Point Owners Club meeting on Sunday November 26th.

Grass growth has been excellent this autumn and the racecourse looks in tip top shape for its first meeting at the end of November, featuring an early qualifier for the Dodson & Horrell ceNovice Riders Series, and the first of four Mixed Open races.

The calendar feature is the Barbury International on Saturday January 20th, when Irish runners and riders will match up against their British counterparts for a renewal of this unique race fixture. With a long distance race, and two races of 2 miles and 2 1/2 respectively, this represents a varied programme that could grace a licensed racecourse. Honours were evenly shared in 2017, but word has it from Ireland that, weather permitting, more travellers will appear in 2018. With £5,750 on offer, this is among the most valuable programmes in Pointing at large.

The season continues through February with the Vine & Craven's first meeting at Barbury before it reverts to Hackwood over Easter. The seven race card was well supported in 2017, and there is every reason to suggest it will grow in 2018.

The season concludes with the Tedworth Point-to-Point on Sunday April 8th, a week before the Aintree Grand National, featuring the Tedworth Gold Cup and a country fair.
