Barbury’s four steeplechase fixtures this winter are already well recognized to produce some archly competitive racing between the flags, with a number of last year’s graduates now progressing into the mainstream of professional racing. That trend is set to be re-inforced through two new awards for the 2018-19 season, which starts on Sunday November 25th.

The Dubarry Leading Trainer Award offers a £1,000 voucher to the trainer accruing most points from winners, placed horses and runners at Barbury this season.

Last season, the popularity of the Award led to it being shared by no less than 3 of our leading Keepers – Phil Rowley, David Brace and Tim Underwood, with Michael Bowen in hot pursuit.

The Moloh Leading Lady Owner Award offers a comparable £1,000 to spend in the eponymous fashion retailer's stores in Pimlico and Tetbury.

Points will be awarded in each of the races between the opening Vine & Craven fixture on Sunday November 25th and the concluding Tedworth on Sunday April 7th. The calendar has scheduled 25 races during the season, although the Barbury International enjoyed several divisions in 2018, which will be added to the schedule.

An additional Dubarry Outstanding Achievement Award will be presented at the International fixture on December 16th, worth £500, to the owner, trainer or rider adjudged to have put up the most extraordinary performance during the day.

Peter McNeile, for Barbury, commented, “The competition at Barbury just gets hotter and hotter. There’s just no such thing as an easy race at Barbury, which is great news for spectators. Dubarry’s continued involvement in our season reflects their strong presence in the rural community, and we welcome Moloh to replicate this for our lady owners. Whether you’re racing or shooting, Dubarry boots and Moloh clothing are a must, and our owners & trainers over the past few years have become better and better dressed! We’re delighted with their support of the grass roots of the sport.”
