The Barbury International, British Point-to-Point racing’s most valuable fixture, has been brought forward a month to Sunday December 16th, in an effort to cement its place in the UK calendar. The fixture, which uniquely in the UK, is open to licensed trainers and to Irish entries, will take place the day after Cheltenham’s International fixture, subject to BHA ratification of the fixture list.
“We’re pleased to have secured this new date,” commented Race Club committee chairman Nigel Bunter. “It also offers transport savings for Irish runners travelling over for Cheltenham’s fixture and Breeze-Up sale, and the opportunity for an early season destination for Pointing fans and owners. Last year’s fixture was very well subscribed for entries, and there is good reason to think that this year will be no different.”
